It also does a great job of cleaning embedded dirt on carpets in the middle of the pile. The IQ's tiny dock footprint and self-emptying feature are both nice features. However, if you wish to change the floor levels on the map, or set no-go zones, you'll need to manually reset it to do so, which is quite a hassle.
The IQ's application has advanced mapping and automation capabilities however it doesn't have no-go zones that are available on iRobot models. Its smart-pathing system allows for greater maneuverability, and the high-pile mode of its carpet cleaning mode is effective, although it can get caught in rug tassels.
During our tests, we found that the IQ was able to handle pet hair effectively. It was able to get rid of the majority of hair on bare floors, and a fair amount of medium-pile rug. It was less effective with shag carpets, as it was unable to reach dirt and dust that was embedded in the fibers. It was capable of maneuvering the legs of chairs and tight spaces as well as the base of a wooden IKEA step stool. It was slower on floors that were not paved, but it recovered speed and did better than other robots we evaluated.
The IQ is a better choice over the iRobot Roomba 694 for most uses. It has a larger dustbin and lasts longer on charge, and is more capable of getting around obstacles. It comes with mopping tools that are able to clean up sticky messes. On the other side, the iRobot is more durable and has fewer components that require replacement or maintenance, incurs lower recurring costs and creates virtual no-go zones using its companion app. It is able to even resume cleaning from the point it started if it has run out of battery before it has completed the task. The iRobot can also be controlled via voice, which can be a big plus for many users.
Eufy 11S
The RoboVac 11S by eufy isn't exactly the most feature-rich robot vacuum available but it does provide powerful cleaning capabilities at the price of. This robot vacuum is made for those who are budget conscious and do not require a complicated mapping system, or an app to control it. The robot is capable of running for up to an hour and comes with an remote, cleaning tool, AC power adapter, charging base and extra filters.
The 11S is slim and sleek with a tempered glass upper deck that covers plastic and is made to look like brushed aluminum. It's a refreshing departure from the utilitarian and industrial designs of Roomba, Samsung and Neato.
In our tests, the eufy 11S was extremely effective at removing larger debris and fine dust on hard floors. It was unable to thoroughly clean medium and high-pile carpets. The device is also prone to hit furniture and other objects in its path however, it's able detect obstacles with sensors. It stops and emits a loud noise when it comes across an obstruction. You can then manually steer the device around it to get it to work again.
Another great feature of the eufy11S is its BoostIQ mode that lets you set the robot to automatically adjust its suction strength to match the type of floor and the amount of dirt. The remote control makes it easy to direct the 11S to the desired place.
If you don't have much furniture in the space where you want to vacuum, Single Room Mode is an excellent alternative. The eufy will take 30 minutes cleaning the area it's assigned.
